In our first Corporate Social Responsibility event of the year 2023, Zambia Industrial Commercial Bank (ZICB) handed over a newly constructed girls’ dormitory to Widows, Orphans, Needy and Sick (WONS) Orphanage, situated in Lusaka’s Chunga area.
ZICB handed over a girl’s dormitory that was worth over ZMW 213,000 to help WONS orphanage address the challenge of accommodation and creating a conducive environment that will enable the children to excel in school.
Speaking during the handover event held on 25 th January, ZICB’s Managing Director Ignatius Mwanza disclosed that the bank is committed to uplifting the living standards of the Zambian people. “At ZICB, our mission is to support the creation of wealth for Zambians, and we believe that education and skills development are key enablers of our mission,” he said.
Mr Mwanza also commended WONS Ministries International for being a home to over 40 children who are cared for and groomed into responsible citizens that are contributing to the wellbeing of society.
“From this number, 25 are girls who are at various levels of education ranging from nursery pupils to college students.”
“And it is for that reason that I want to applaud WONS orphanage for taking care of over 40 young people. This is simply a miracle, and ZICB is proud to be part of your support system,” he explained.
Meanwhile, speaking at the same event, WONS Ministries International Director Eunice Bwalya, thanked ZICB for supporting the building of the girl’s dormitory.
